we have just published a new paper on Frontiers on the usage of Ultrasound imaging as a PNS-MI. you can find it here.
The paper shows the practical usability of US imaging as a means to reconstruct the hand dynamic configuration (i.e., the finger forces). The most relevant/interesting part is, in our opinion, the so-called realistic scenario in which the system is shown to work: no sensors are needed – using the visual stimulus as ground truth works fine – and only rest and maximal forces are required to train the system. We therefore claim that this system is ready to be used by amputees or neuropathic pain patients, to reconstruct the imaginary limb.
